Esther T. Pillen

Funeral service for Esther T. Pillen, 87, of Canton will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2009 at 7:00pm at the O'Leary Funeral Home in Canton. Mrs. Pillen passed away on Tuesday, December 08, 2009 at the United Helpers Canton Nursing Home where she had been a resident since 2006.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6pm until the time of the service.
Surviving Esther are two sons; Barry and wife Ellie Pillen of Pierre, S. Dakota; Gerald Pillen of Rapid City, S. Dakota; a grandson Todd Robert Pillen; two great-granddaughters Brittney and Abbie Pillen; nieces and nephews and many good friends.
Six brothers, Forrest, Carroll, Milford, Francis, Jay and William; two sisters, Fern Cross and Marie Barney predeceased her.
Born January 13, 1922 in Canton; daughter of the late Robert and Gladys (Clough) Todd. She graduated from Canton Schools. She married Harold Pillen in 1953 in Rapid City, South Dakota; he predeceased her on October 18, 2005. She was a Plane Spotter during WWII; she worked for the Red Cross and for The Spinning Wheel Fabric Store in Plattsburg for 20years. For the last 30 years she has been cared for by a very special sister-in-law Barbara Todd and niece Donna Stiles.
She was very crafty, a seamstress and she loved her family. Contributions in her memory may be made to the United Helpers Canton Nursing Home Activity Fund.
