Esterella L. Ashley

Funeral service for Esterella L. Ashley, 88, of Canton, will be held on Monday, April 22, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the O'Leary Funeral Home, 5821 US Hwy 11; Canton with Rev. Kenny Ashley, officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Canton. Esterella died on Friday, April 19, 2013 at the home of her daughter Rosalie while under the care of family and St. Lawrence Valley Hospice.
Surviving Esterella are a son, Wesley Ashley and companion Carol Green of Canton; daughters, Nancy Parrow and husband Fred of Canton; Rosalie Thomas and husband Bert of Potsdam; Lola Curran and husband Stephen of Madrid; Laurel Robertson and husband Mark of Potsdam and Estella Hart and husband David of Pamelia. She is also survived by brothers, Richard Dafoe and wife Tina of Russell; Roger Dafoe and wife Debbie of Canton and by a sister, Lola Wood of Pyrites and several, grand, great grand and great-great grandchildren.
A son, Alton James Ashley; brothers, Calvin, Myron and Wesley Dafoe and a sister Lorena Lewis predeceased her.
Esterella was born February 8, 1925 in canton, the daughter of the late Wesley and Ada (Dumas) Dafoe. She attended Canton Schools. She married Alton A. Ashley on April 24, 1943 at the Universalist Church in Canton. The marriage ended in divorce.
Esterella enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, reading her bible and watching old westerns.
