Mass of Christian Burial for Erma May White-Lane, 83, of Clare, will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 12:00 PM at the St. Mary's Church, Canton with Rev. Douglas J. Lucia, celebrating. Burial will follow at the South Russell Cemetery. Erma died at home under the care of family and Hospice of the St. Lawrence Valley.
Friends may call at the O'Leary Funeral Home, on Wednesday, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. Contributions in her memory may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley, 6805 US Hwy 11; Potsdam, NY 13676.
Surviving Erma is her husband Richard Lane of Clare; six sons, Charles "Chuck" White Jr. and wife Sheila; Jack White and wife Darlene; Lawrence White and wife Diane; Lee White and wife Sandra and Danny White and wife Agnes all of Russell and Randy White and wife Karen of Woodstock, GA; a daughter, Jill Lottie and husband Erich of Russell. Also surviving are a sister Arlene White of Canton; half-brothers, Raymond "Rocky" Ashlaw of Pyrites and Carmen Ashlaw of Russell and half-sisters, Linda, Connie and Joyce and 20 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren.
Erma is predeceased by two sons, George and David White, by a brother Carl "Sonny" Ashlaw and by a half-sister Judy.
Erma was born on July 7, 1929 in St. Regis Falls, the daughter of the late, Theodore and Alice (Sochia) Ashlaw. She married Charles White on November 3, 1945; Mr. White predeceased her on June 25, 1987. On September 19, 1988 she married Richard Lane. Erma was a farmer and homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, game shows, fishing, reading, puzzles, politics and feeding the wildlife.
