Emma Westdijk

Funeral services for Emma Westdijk, 84, of Canton will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2008 at 10:00am at O'Leary Funeral Service with Rev. James Brand, Pastor of Canton United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow the service in Fairview Cemetery, Canton. Mrs. Westdijk passed away at her home in Canton on Sunday, September 7, 2008.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 and 7-9pm on Wednesday, September 10, 2008. Contributions in her memory may be made to Canton Volunteer Fire and Rescue.

Surviving Mrs. Westdijk are a daughter Yvonne and her husband John Todd of Canton, a grandson John and companion Amber Sanderson of Canton, three granddaughters, Jacquelyn Todd and companion Richard Todd of Madrid, Regan and Tim Green of Canton, and Bayley Todd and companion Michael Wagner of Canton and 5 great-grandchildren.

A sister Charlotte LeFebre predeceases her.

Born January 25, 1924 in Padang Pandjang, Sumatra she attended school there. On March 19, 1953 she married Arie Westdijk. The coupled left Holland in 1956 to start a new life in American. They landed in New York City and moved directly to Canton to settle. He predeceased her on November 8th 1981. She work for St. Lawrence University and was Housekeeping Supervisor until her retirement in late 1989.

Mrs. Westdijk enjoyed gardening, crafts, spending time with her family, and traveling to Canada with friends. She was a communicant of the Canton United Methodist Church.
