Eleanor I. Munn

Memorial service for Eleanor I. Planty-Munn will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2009 at 2:00pm at the O'Leary Funeral Home in Canton with Rev. Rob Schirmer officiating. Eleanor passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
Friends may call at the funeral home on August 29, 2009 from 1pm until the time of the service. Contributions in her memory may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley, 6805 US Hwy 11, Potsdam, New York 13617.
Surviving Eleanor are a daughter Julie and husband Glenn Bristow; grandchildren Maribeth and Matthew Simmons all of Waddington; a sister Shirley and Jack Smith of Canton; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Two brothers, Herbert "Junior" Planty and Richard "Peanut" Planty predeceased her.
Eleanor was born July 10, 1943 in Canton, daughter of the late Mason and Helen (Davis) Planty. She worked for Garland Garnsey in Canton as a horse trainer and jockey for several years and later as a bus driver in New York City.
She enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, playing games, spending time with family, traveling with June Wilson and watching the Yankees and the Buffalo Bills. She was an independent free spirited woman who loved life.
