Funeral mass for Mrs. Dorothy E. "Dot" Short, 89, of Lisbon will be held on Monday, July 14, 2008 at 10:00am at the St. Phillips/St. James Church in Lisbon with Rev. Timothy Soucy Celebrating. Burial will follow the service in St. Mary's Cemetery in Ogdensburg. Mrs. Short died on Thursday, July 10, 2008 at United Helpers Cedars Nursing Home in Ogdensburg, where she had been a resident since Monday.

Friends may call at O'Leary Funeral Service on Sunday, July 13, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9pm.

Surviving Mrs. Short are two sons Fr. Timothy Soucy of Lowville and Michael and Carol Soucy of Oswego, two daughters Barbara LaDuke of Watertown and Phyllis and Glenn Poore of Lisbon, two step-sons William and Linda Short and Edwin Short both of Canton and a step-daughter Sheryl and John Smith also of Canton and by 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

A stepson David Short, brother Phillip Gardner Jr. and a sister Eva Billings predecease her.

Born February 11, 1919 in Lisbon, daughter of the late Phillip and Mamie (Brannen) Gardner. She graduated from Lisbon High School. She married James Soucy on November 23, 1939 at St. Phillip's/ St. James Church in Lisbon; he predeceased her on September 8, 1965. She was a self-employed beautician for 50+ years. She married Lowell Short on May 18, 1968 at the St. Phillips/St. James Catholic Church in Lisbon; Mr. Short predeceased her on May 1, 2007.

Mrs. Short enjoyed snowmobiling, sewing, knitting and cooking. Contributions in her memory may be made to St. Phillips/St. James Church, P.O. Box 175, Lisbon, NY 13658. Arrangements are with the O'Leary Funeral Service of Canton.
