Doris E. Dominie

Funeral service for Doris E. Dominie, 101, of Canton will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at 12:00 PM at the O'Leary Funeral Home, Canton with Deacon James Snell, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Cemetery, Canton. Doris died on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at the United Helpers Maplewood Campus.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral at noon. Contributions in her memory may be made to the United Helpers Maplewood Activity Fund; 205 State Street Road; Canton, New York 13617 or to a charity of one's choice.
Doris is survived by a son, Bernard Dominie and wife Patricia of Canton; two daughters, Margaret Ames of Lafayette, NY and Jean Salton of Madrid; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren and by one great-great-great grandchild. Also surviving are two sisters, Frances Grant of Hermon and Mabel Woodside of Massena.
Doris is predeceased by two son-in-laws, Merril Ames and Sterling Salton and by a grandson Dennis Dominie.
She was born, February 22, 1913 in Churubusco, the daughter of the late Alfred and Cora (Miller) Viancour. She attended Hermon Country Schools. On April 14, 1931 she married Leonard Dominie in Canton, with Rev. Edward J. Pierce, officiating. Leonard predeceased her on August 10, 1989. Doris worked the family farm with Leonard and was a homemaker.
She was a past member of the Canton, Hermon and Parishville Senior Citizens and enjoyed embroidery, dancing and traveling.
