Donna A. Webster

Donna A. Webster, 78, of Canton died unexpectedly on Friday, January 30, 2026.

Donna was born April 27, 1947 in Huntingdon, PA, a daughter to the late Denton and Maxine (Grissinger) Shaffer. Donna’s family moved from Pennsylvania to Springville, New York in the early 1950’s, where she spent her formative years and graduated high school from the Springville-Griffith Institute and later received a Bachelor’s of Science from SUNY Potsdam. Donna worked for the St. Lawrence County Department of Social Services Children’s Services for 32 years, retiring in 2001.

Donna enjoyed artistic and decorative painting, traveling, was an avid reader and loved playing cards and board games of all kinds, especially Scrabble which she had a friendly rivalry with her sister Sue. She was previously on the board of the Community Health Center of the North Country, had been an active participant with the SOAR program, past member and Queen of the Red Hat Society and member and Chaplain of the VFW post 1231 Auxiliary. Donna also enjoyed garage sales and craft fairs.

Donna is survived by two daughters, Dawn LaGrave of Kansas City, MO, Keri LaGrave of Massena, proud grandmother of Arianna Sexton and Rory LaGrave, sister to Denton (Anne) Shaffer Jr. of Louisville, KY, Susan (Joe) Smith of Springville, NY and Larry (Kim) Shaffer of Florida.

A Celebration of Donna’s Life will be held in the spring with details forthcoming.
