Donald D. Whiteford

Memorial service for Donald D. Whiteford, 64, of Gouverneur will be held on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at 2:00pm at the O'Leary Funeral Home in Canton. Mr. Whiteford passed away on Friday, June 4, 2010 at the Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 1pm until the time of the service. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Richard E. Winter Cancer Treatment Center or to the Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center.
Surviving Donald are his wife Nancy of Gouverneur; a son, Terry Whiteford and companion Theresa Piniewski of Rochester; two daughters Donna Spicer and husband Bill of Elkin, NC and Lori Whiteford of Ogdensburg; four step-daughters, Lori Barr and husband Jeff of Hailesboro; Michelle Tracy and husband Rodney of Gouverneur; Melinda Smith and husband Willis of Gouverneur and Billy Jo Way of Syracuse; brothers, Robert Whiteford and wife Connie of Hermon; Fred Whiteford of Colorado; Leamon Whiteford and wife Donna of New London, CT; David Whiteford and wife Elaine of Russell and Doug Whiteford and wife Marie of Henderson; a sister Connie Sharpstene and husband Ray of Raleigh, NC; 24 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
A brother William Whiteford predeceases him.
Donald was born on July 2, 1945 in Canton, son of the late Donald H. and Elizabeth (Kinney) Whiteford. He graduated from Knox-Memorial in 1963. Mr. Whiteford worked for Radec Corp. as an electrician, retiring in 2007. A marriage to Connie law ended in divorce. On June 26, 1976 he married Nancy Washburn.
Donald enjoyed hobby farming and hunting.
