Memorial service for Donald G. Stone, 66, of Kendrew Corners will be held on Friday, January 8, 2015 at 3:00 PM at the O'Leary Funeral Home, Canton with Tom Nichols, officiating. Donald died on Monday, January 4, 2016 at his home.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Renssalear Falls Fire Department; Heuvelton First Responders or to Canton Rescue Squad.
Donald is survived by his wife of 43 years, Colleen of Kendrew Corners; two sons, Todd Stone and Matthew Stone and wife Erin all of Kendrew Corners and by a step son, David Norman of Heuvelton; by his mother, Mildred Stone; by two granddaughters, Brielle and Hannah; five grandsons, Alex, Logan, Corrigan, Ryan and Caleb. Also surviving are two brothers, Dan Stone and companion Jan Sayer of Lisbon; Phillip Stone and companion Sue Mitchell of Ogdensburg; two sisters, Ethel Burkhardt of TN and Joanne Nagy and husband Bill of FL; and sister-in-law's, Sharon Stone, Kathy Arnold, Pat O'Grady-Stone, and Annie Davis and husband Archie, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Donald is predeceased by his father, George Stone and by a brother, John Stone.
Donald was born November 7, 1949 in Ogdensburg, the son of George and Mildred (Masters) Stone. He graduated from Heuvelton Central School in 1967 and in 1968 he enlisted in the US ARMY and served in the Signal Corps in Vietnam till 1971, receiving and Honorable Discharge. On March 31, 1972, Donald married Colleen Geary at the DePeyster Methodist Church with his uncle, Rev. Bill Masters, officiating.
Donald worked for the Stacy Family at Maple Drive Farms, at SUNY Canton and at Corning Glass for 31 years prior to retiring. Donald enjoyed hunting, and hobby farming, he enjoyed Women's college Basketball and Softball, reading Louie Lamour books and criminal investigation shows and he was a member of the Kendrew Grange.
