Donald W. Sharlow Sr

Funeral mass for Donald W. Sharlow Sr; 73, Russell, will be held on Monday, April 4, 2011 at 11:00am at St. Mary's Church in Canton with Rev. Douglas Lucia celebrating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Mr. Sharlow passed away on Friday, April 1, 2011 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
Friends may call on Sunday, April 3, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the O'Leary Funeral Home, Park St, Canton. Contributions in his memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.
Surviving Donald are his wife Rosamond; two sons, Donald Jr. and Alan, both of South Russell; two daughters, Eva Farrell and husband James of Valatie, NY; Cindy Niles and husband Scott of West Potsdam; three sisters, Sylvia Wright and husband Carleton of Ogdensburg; Bertha Latreill of Potsdam and Ruth Toomey and husband Paul of Lisbon; three grandchildren, Shannon Ayrassian of Canton, Scott Niles Jr. of West Potsdam and James Farrell II of Valatie and by two great-grandchildren, Josh and Madison Ayrassian.
Donald is predeceased by an infant son Michael, and by brothers Leo, Calvin, Bernard, Ernest, Carl and Gene.
Donald was born April 16, 1937 in Potsdam, the son of the late Morris and Emily (Burkum) Sharlow. He attended Potsdam Schools. On June 24, 1957, Donald married Rosamond Brabaw at St. Paul's Church in Pyrites with Fr. Griffith Billmeyer, officiating. He worked union construction for Local 322 of Massena. He enjoyed NASCAR, playing guitar, model car collecting, country music, nature, hunting, fishing and his family.
