Funeral service for Mr. Donald F. Raycraft, 72, of Canton will be held at 11:00am on Sunday, March 28, 2010 at the O'Leary Funeral Home in Canton with Rev. Edwin Wright officiating. Burial will be in Beech Plains Cemetery, Pierrepont. Mr. Raycraft passed away on Thursday, March 25, 2010 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, March 27, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Colton Volunteer Rescue Squad 89 Riverside Drive, Colton, NY 13625 or the Pierrepont Fire First responders, 62 CR 29, Canton, NY 13617.
Surviving Mr. Raycraft besides his wife Judy and mother Mildred; are a daughter Jane and husband Jeffery Doxtater, step daughter Kathy and husband Jeramy Deforge, two step sons, Brian and wife Bobbi Davis and Daniel Davis and Elizabeth Swafford; three grandsons Jordan Davis, Dallas Doxtater and Jacob Deforge, granddaughters Kara, Taylor and Brianna Davis.
Born November 17, 1937, he was the son of Mildred (Crary) Raycraft and the late John Raycraft. He married Vivian Blackmer on June 4, 1960, the marriage ended in divorce. He served in the United States Army from 1961-1963 and in the Army Reserves until 1967, as a vehicle mechanic. On November 24, 1979, he married Judy Davis. Mr. Raycraft worked at Gibbo's Market till its closing and for Kraft Foods in Canton retiring in March of 1999.
Donald was a longtime Volunteer Fireman and past Chief of the Degrasse-Claire-South Russell Fire Department. He loved to hunt, camp, ride four wheelers and spend time on the boat.
