David G. Amo, 90, of Canton passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2025 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital where his daughter Kelly was by his side.
David was born June 12, 1935 in Lisbon, a son of the late George and Gladys (Ames) Amo. He attended Canton Central High School and served honorably in the United States ARMY during the Korean Conflict.
Upon returning home, he married Kathleen Butler in May of 1958. David was a heavy equipment operator, who was proud to have been a part of the construction of the St. Lawrence Seaway. He was a founding member of the Hermon Sledders Snowmobile club and loved old cars and trucks.
David is survived by a daughter Kelly (Ed) McCarthy, granddaughter Cassandra Stromgren, great-grandchildren Alaina and Jonathon Stromgren, sister-in-law Sandra Amo, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents George and Gladys, David was predeceased by his beloved wife, Kathleen, son Roger Amo, grandson Jesse McCarthy and by siblings, Terry and Fred Amo, Joan (Gary) McDonald and Jean (Art) Deleel.
A joint graveside service for David and Kathleen will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at the St. Mary's Cemetery, Canton at 10:00 am.
