Daniel E. Chambers, 78, of South Colton, NY and Winter Haven FL passed away March 22, 2014 at home in Winter Haven. Graveside interment services will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Colton, with Msgr. Aucoin, officiating.
Dan was born February 18, 1936 in Brasher Falls. He was the son of Paul W. and Olivia Erma (Partlow) Chambers.
He graduated from St. Lawrence Central High School in 1953 and proudly served three years in the US Army Security Service, attending the Army Language School in Monterey, CA and saw service in Japan. Dan worked 40 years for the New York Power Authority in Massena. He was active in the IBEW Local 2032, Stockholm Town politics, American Legion Post 514 and was a lifetime member of the Girls Scouts.
Surviving is his wife Rena T. (Pitkin) Chambers whom he married, August 22, 1999. In addition he is survived by five children; Pamela (Mike Robinson), Ellen Chambers, John Chambers, Lisa (Pat Angel) and Beth (Carl Barney); and six grandchildren; Brian, Ryan, Jendiss, Jonathan, Logan and Olivia. Rena's family; Michelle (Paul Barbour), Kathleen Owens; Michael (Lauren) Pitkin; Jeffery (Ellen) Pitkin; seven grandchildren and a great grandchild. Three siblings, Sr. Eileen, Gerald and William Chambers, 25 nieces and nephews and several cousins also survive him. His parents and three siblings, Robert, Bernard and Paul Chambers, preceded him in death.
A Memorial Service for Daniel E. Chambers was held at the Swiss Golf and Tennis Community in Winter Haven, FL. Interment and graveside services will be at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Colton, NY in the spring. O'Leary Funeral Service, Canton NY is handling the arrangements.
