Mass of Christian Burial for D. Rolland Lee, 85, of Canton will be held on Monday, October 15, 2012 at 11:00am at the St. Mary's Church in Canton with Rev. Douglas J. Lucia, celebrating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Cemetery. Rolland died on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
Friends may call at the O'Leary Funeral Home on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8pm. Contributions in his memory may be made to St. Mary's Catholic School or Canton Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad.
Surviving Rolland are his wife of 64 years, Anne; sons, Michael and wife Mary Beth of Ann Arbor, MI; Mark and wife Wanda of DeKalb Jct; daughters, Sandra Scarano and husband Arnold of Liverpool; Janis Lee and husband Michael Secone of Canton; Joan White and husband Bill of Cranberry Lake and Peggy Hayes and husband John of Canton.
Also surviving are two brothers, Sever Dean and wife Connie Paulson of NE; Dennis and wife Beverly Green of WA; sisters, Roselan and Dee Dunnagan of NE; Doris Warner of NE; Valborg and husband Bill Roberts of CA; a brother in law Jack DeVilliers; 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
He is predeceased by a sister, Deanne DeVilliers and a brother in law, Paul Warner
Rolland was born April 27, 1927 in Omaha, NE; the son of the late Tillie Randina (Watland) Lee and Sever W. Paulson. He graduated from Albion City Schools, Omaha, NE and from Canton ATI in 1951. He served from April 1945-May 1946 in the US Coast Guard. Rolland married Anne Ames on May 12, 1948 at St. Mary's Church in Canton. He worked for Dairy Lea, owned Lee's Sales and Service, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning and later was head electrician for Canton ATC for 25 years, retiring in 1988.
Rolland was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a Eucharistic Minister at St. Mary's Church, and past member of the Canton Fire Department and Rescue Squad. He enjoyed bowling, loved camping with Ann and children and his brother and sister in laws, Ivy and the late Gary Martin and Harold and Carol Ames and his backyard view of the Grasse River.
