Cindy Lou Mousaw, age 56, of Canton passed away early Wednesday evening, September 21, 2016 at her home. She was surrounded by her loving family and was at peace.

Cindy was born in Canton, on October 23, 1959, the youngest of seven children, to the late Benjamin R. and Mary L. (Cota) Briggs. She received her education in DeKalb, graduating from Hermon-DeKalb Central School in 1978. Cindy married Scott Mousaw in 1988. They had one son born of the marriage, Cory Richard Mousaw. Together they made their home and have resided in Canton their entire married life.

During Cindy's working career, she was employed by McDonald's; Dollar General and worked as a self-employed house cleaner in Canton. Cindy was a hard-working loving wife, mother and grandmother. Cindy was a very quiet, private person. She had an enormous heart for her family and animals. Cindy had a green thumb and loved flowers and growing plants.

Surviving Cindy are her husband, Scott of Canton; son, Cory (Shelby Barr) Mousaw; grandchildren, Sophie Barr and Gracelyn Lou Mousaw; by four brothers, Timmy (Barb) Briggs; David Briggs; Joe (Tari) Briggs; Bob (Darlene) Briggs; by two sisters, Martha (Bill) Typhair and Inez Simzer. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

There will be a memorial service to remember Cindy on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 11:00am at the family home, 343 Judson Street Road; Canton. The family wishes to extend their gracious appreciation to Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley for their care during Cindy's final days and to Steven Cary of the O'Leary Funeral Service for his professionalism in caring for Cindy and our family following her death.
