Charles P. Mcmurray

Charles Patrick McMurray, 86, of Canton, NY, passed away peacefully in his sleep Saturday, January 19, 2013, at the United Helpers Maplewood Campus in Canton, NY.
Known as "Poppy" to his grandchildren, Charles was born on November 28, 1926 at Lutheran Hospital in the Bronx, NY to Michael and Brenda McMurray. Charles served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1945 and later graduated from Iona College in New Rochelle, NY with a degree in business.
Charles entered the garment industry in New York City and enjoyed a long and successful career, which took him from one end of the globe to other, doing business in dozens of countries.
Charles was married to Constance Caffrey of Nutley, New Jersey in 1952 at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York. He is survived by his son, Mark C. McMurray and his wife Patricia, grandsons Matthew, Gregory, and Michael, his sister Kay, his former wife Diane Avalon and many nieces and nephews.
A lifelong New York Giants fan, he will be remembered for his wit, generosity and faith.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 25 at St. Mary's Church at 11:00am. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Canton will be in the spring.
