Charles A. Dennis

Funeral service for Charles A. "Bill" Dennis Sr., 64 of Canton, will be held on Friday, February 25, 2011 at 8:00pm at the O'Leary Funeral Home in Canton with Rev. Bill Hart, officiating. Burial in Crary Mills Cemetery will be Friday, May 27, 2011 at 3:00pm. He passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at the Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, from 2-4 and 6-8pm. Contribution in his memory may be made the Alzheimer's Association.
Mr. Dennis is survived by his wife of 37 years, Coleen Dennis; by his son Charles A. (Billy) Dennis Jr. and his wife Jody of Manhattan; two daughters, Renee Butterfield and husband Jeffery of Canton; Erin Roberson and companion Jake Lucas of Winthrop; and by seven grandchildren, Anabel and Maxson Dennis, Easton and Bryce Butterfield and Ezra, Ciara and Emma Lucas.
His is predeceased by his parents Howard and Anabel Shorett.
Bill was born March 27, 1946 in Malone. He attended Canton Schools. A marriage to Elaine Pryce ended in divorce. On September 8, 1973 he married Coleen Wood. Bill was one time the manager of the Canton Mobil Station and later owned and operated 'Bill Dennis' Construction for 20 years. He took pride in his craftsmanship. He was a past member of the Pierrepont Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobile racing and spending time with grandchildren.
