Carson A. Emhof, 86, of Canton, died on February 1st, 2016. Carson was born on May 18, 1929, in Cazenovia, New York. After high school graduation, he enlisted in the Marine Corp. and served as a Sergeant in the Korean War. He received the following: Purple Heart medal with one star, Korean Service Medal with three stars, Presidential Unit Citation with one star, United Nations Service Ribbon, and Good Conduct Medal. He then attended Syracuse University where he received a B.S. in Engineering Construction. On September 21, 1957, Carson married Hannah Twomey. He went on to teach at SUNY Canton for 18 years. After retiring from teaching, Carson owned Emhof's Driving Range and Green House. He was a very active member at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Canton.
Carson is survived by his wife, Hannah, sons, Carson J. (Janet), Daniel (Cathy), daughters, Ann Thompson (Doug), and Dawn Lyon (Eric), eight grandchildren, Hannah, Mikey, Jenny, Haley, Danielle, Nicholas, Kyle, and Ronnie, brother Bill Emhof and sister Laura Purdy.
Carson is predeceased by his son, Thomas, his parents, and two sisters.
Mass of Christian Burial for Carson will be held on Friday, February 5, 2016 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Douglas J. Lucia, celebrating. Calling hours will be held at the O'Leary Funeral Home, Canton on Thursday, February 4, 2016 from 4PM to 7PM. Donations may be made in Carson's memory to Hospice of St. Lawrence County, 6805 US Hwy 11; Potsdam, NY 13676.
