Carole Elizabeth (Payzant) Herne
Carole E. Herne formerly Carole E. Rivers of Heuvelton, N.Y. passed away on January 12, 2015 at Canton-Potsdam Hospital surrounded by her friends and family after a 6 year battle with cancer. Carole was the daughter of William and Beatrice Payzant and was born on June 23, 1960 in Fairport, New York. She was predeceased by her parents and her grandson Ryan J. Rivers in 2006.
Carole is survived by her husband, Gerald A. Herne of Heuvelton; Three Daughters, Jessica Rivers and her companion David LeBeau of Ogdensburg, Conijean Rivers of Roscoe, N.Y. and Cassandra VanBrocklin and her husband Anthony of Pierrepont, N.Y.; two sisters, Christine (Payzant) Hart of Middletown, N.Y. and Katherine (Payzant) Morrow of Roscoe, N.Y.; one brother, James Payzant of Binghamton, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Rayonna Gollinger, Nathan Gollinger, Natalie Gollinger, Aubree VanBrocklin and Autumn VanBrocklin.
Carole attended High School at Ogdensburg Free Academy where she graduated in 1979 and then she attended Mater Dei College. She then worked as a Certified Nurse's Aide at Cedars Nursing Home, Gouverneur Nursing Home and St. Regis Nursing Home. She enjoyed caring for people and making them laugh when they were feeling their worst. She cherished her family and friends and had an even deeper love for her children and grandchildren. She was an active member of the Colton Wesleyan Church and the Heuvelton Wesleyan Church where she enjoyed Bible study and prayer groups. Carole enjoyed fun and adventure, whether she was living it, watching it on TV or reading it in a book. She was fearless and fierce in many ways and none more that how she battled this terrible disease.
There will be a memorial service and celebration of life at 3:00 PM on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at the Colton Wesleyan Church.
