Carmen F. Casolara Jr

Mass of Christian Burial for Carmen F. Casolara Jr. will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at 11:00am at St. Patrick's Church in Colton with Rev. Msgr. Robert Aucoin, celebrating. Burial will be held Friday in Utica at Calvary Cemetery. Carmen passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
Friends may call at the O'Leary Funeral Home, 5821 US Hwy 11; Canton on Wednesday, November 9 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Contributions in his memory may be to Pierrepont Volunteer Fire Department or the American Heart Association.
Carmen is survived by his wife Norma, a daughter, Carla Casolara-Ortiz and her husband Abel Ortiz; granddaughter Giana Ortiz; by niece Theresa Cappellino of West Palm Beach, FL; nephew Anthony Cappellino or Port St. Lucie, FL; and niece Carmelita and Robert Matyi of Utica and by two cousins, William and Peg Casolara of Sheridan, MT; and Mark and Mary Casolara of Manassas, VA.
Carmen is predeceased by a sister and brother-in-law Adeline and Tony Cappellino.
He was born November 19, 1937 in Utica, NY; son of the late Carmen Sr. and Wilhelmina (DeLiusi) Casolara. He graduated from TR Proctor High in 1955 and complete two years at Utica Technical College. He served with the US Army and Army Reserves from 1961-1969. Carmen married Norma Van Brocklin on October 26, 1974at St. Patrick's Church in Colton with Rev. John Kennehan , officiating. Carmen worked at SUNY Potsdam for 34 years in the Computing and Technical Services Department.
Carmen was a 30 year member of the Pierrepont Volunteer Fire Department, Life Member of the NRA, a communicant of St. Patrick's Church, Colton; member of the Bruner Hill Hunting Club and the Norwood Rod and Gun Club. Carmen was an avid hunter, target and skeet shooter, varmint hunter, enjoyed motorcycling and is known for his 1962 Chevy Impala 409.
