Graveside Service for Brian Barney, 50, of Canton, will be held on Friday, May 1, 2015 at 1:00PM at the Riverside Cemetery, Norwood. Brian passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse.
Friends may call at the O'Leary Funeral Home; Canton, on Thursday, April 30 from 2-4 PM and from 6-9 PM. Contributions in his memory may be made to Canton Volunteer Fire Department or to the Rainbow Hunting Club.
Brian is survived by his life companion of 29 years, Laurie Noble of Canton; sons, Corey Barney of Canton and Curtis Barney of Jacksonville, NC and by a daughter, McKenzie Barney of Canton and by his father, Max Barney of Massena. Also surviving are a brother, Bruce Barney of Potsdam and a sister Myra Gonyo and husband Kevin of Erie, Colorado and a nephew Christopher Gonyo.
He is predeceased by his mother, Agnes Barney.
Brian was born June 10, 1964 in Potsdam, the son of Max and Agnes Barney. He graduated from Potsdam High School and attended SUNY Canton. Brian and his father operated Services Associates, he worked for Johnson Control, Clarkson University and most recently was a senior engineer for Siemen's. Brian was a member of the Rainbow Hunting Club, he coached peewee wrestling, was an associate member of the Canton VFW Post 1239 and enjoyed to golf, hunting and fishing.
