A gravesdide service for Beulah I. Mackin, 88 of Canton, formerly of Russell will be held on Sunday, May 24, 2009 at 2pm at the South Russell Cemetery with Rev. Bill Hart officiaiting. Mrs. Mackin passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2009 at the United Helpers Nursing Home of Canton were she was under the care of the nursing home staff and Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley.Contributions in her memory may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley, 6805 U.S. Hwy 11, Potsdam, New York 13676.
Surviving Mrs. Mackin are a son Franklin H. and wife Marilyn Mackin of S. Russell, 5 daughters; Gloria and Carl Didas of Pitcairn; Gail and keith Daniels of Star Lake; Carol and Phillip Coller of Russell; Sharon Mackin of Canton; Robin and Charles Bossert of Lafayette, Indiana; several grand and great-grandchildren.
A daughter June Clarke, two brothers Milton and Morgan VanHouse and two sisters Betty Hart and Eloise Javall predecease her.
Born February 28, 1920 in Fine, daughter of the late Milton and Bernice (Ingraham) VanHouse, she graduated from Harrisville Schools in 1935. She married Franklin H. Mackin Sr. on February 20, 1937 in Edwards with Rev. Charles Bresee officiating. Mr. Mackin predeceased her in 1968. Mrs. Mackin was a homemaker only working outside the home for a short time.
