Betty M. (Lang) Dalton

July 13, 1936 — January 28, 2018

Memorial service for Mrs. Betty M. Dalton, 81, of Pierrepont, will be held later in the spring. Betty passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital, where she was surrounded by her loving family.

Betty was born July 13, 1936 in Pierrepont, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Marian (Rogers) Lang. She attended the one room school house in Pierrepont until 1948 when she began attending school in Canton at Banford Elementary. Betty graduated from Canton High School in 1954. Following high school, she attended Kingston Hospital School of Nursing in Kingston, NY, graduating in 1957.

Following her nursing graduation, Betty moved to Potsdam, where on November 23, 1957 she married Leonard McDonald Jr.; he predeceased her in May 1970. She began working at the Potsdam Hospital that same year, where she remained until the time of her retirement in 1999. When she retired, Betty was Vice-President of Patient Care Services. On August 25, 1973, Betty was married to Raymond "Red" Dalton.

Surviving besides Raymond of Pierrepont, are a son, Michael (Sheila) McDonald of Pierrepont; daughter, Beth (Karl) Woolworth of Constantia, NY; four grandchildren; five step-grandchildren and many step great-grandchildren.

Betty was a past member of the Board of Directors of North Country Freedom Homes, past member of the NYS Nurses Association and a member of the North Country Professional Nurses Association. Betty enjoyed reading, dancing, camping, playing bingo, but most of all spending time with her family and friends in New York and at their winter home in Lakeland, Florida.
