Arthur H. Barton, Jr. 90, of DeKalb Jct, passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg. Contributions in his memory may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley, 6805 US Hwy 11; Potsdam, NY 13676.
Arthur was born, February 18, 1924 in Baltimore, MD; the son of the late Arthur H. and Hazel F. (Bailey) Barton. He attended Baltimore City Schools and served in the United States Navy from 1943-1946 during World War II. On November 2, 1946, he married Audrey E. Bell at the Baltimore Presbyterian Church. Audrey predeceased him on April 9, 2007. Arthur worked for C&P Telephone in Baltimore for 31 years, retiring in 1981. He and Audrey moved to DeKalb in 1995.
Arthur was a former Boy Scout and fox hunter and was a member of the Mason-Dixson Fox Hunters.
Surviving Arthur are two sons; Arthur H. Barton III; J. Richard Barton; eight grandchildren, Steven B. Barton; John W. Barton; Jesse L. Barton; David W. Barton; Laura D. Allison; Karen L. Dietrich, James L. Barton and Brian Barton. Also surviving are 15 great-grandchildren, J. Eathon Barton; I. Cole Barton; Jarrett C. Barton; Madelyn E. Barton; Jessica T. Barton; Lee P. Barton; Elliana J. Barton; Grace A. Barton; Connor T. Barton; Brody J. Barton; Charlotte A. Barton; kirsten Barton and Dylan, Caleb and Tyler Allison.
He is predeceased by a son, James L. Barton and by a brother, John Barton.
