Anne L. (Lytle) Niles, 70, of Canton died on August 11, 2026 at the Gouverneur Hospital, where she was in the company of family. Anne had been in failing health for some time.

Anne was born April 30, 1956 in Rensselaer Falls, a daughter of the late Clarence and Elizabeth “Betty” (Chase) Lytle. Anne graduated from Canton High School and earned her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse, doing private duty nursing in homes around the area.

On November 11, 1972, Anne married Ronald Stiles, although the marriage ended in divorce, the couple had a daughter Jennifer. On February 14, 1995, Anne was married to Glenn Niles, celebrating 31 years of marriage this year.

Throughout her lifetime, Anne had a passion for horses. She took in several rescues throughout the years and provided them with a safe place to live and a lot of love and attention. She was known for her creativity as well as her decorating talents. She also enjoyed shopping, was an avid fan of both the Syracuse Orange and New York Yankees and was happiest when spending time with her family.

Anne is survived by her husband Glenn Niles, daughter Jennifer (Robert) Brown, grandchildren Camille and Berkley Brown, siblings, Paul (Carol) Lytle and Susan (Thomas) Proulx. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Clarence and Betty, she was predeceased by a grandson, Turner Robert Brown.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Rensselaer Falls Fire Department, 424 Rensselaer Street; Rensselaer Falls, New York 13680 or to the West Potsdam Fire Department, 801 County Route 34; Potsdam, New York 13676.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no funeral or calling hours. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
