Funeral service for Amos Hennigan Jr.; 82, of Canton, will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at 11:00am at the O'Leary Funeral Home, 5821 US Hwy 11, Canton. Burial will follow in the Crary Mills Cemetery. Amos died on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at the Samaritan Keep Home of Watertown.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Tuesday. Contributions in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Surviving Amos are a son, Amos Hennigan III of Canton; a daughter, Nancy Harrison of Churubusco, NY; a sister Linda Miller of Bangor, PA and by three grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
A sister Eleanor Foster and a brother Fred Hennigan predecease him.
Amos was born, January 29, 1931 in Canton, the son of the late Amos Sr. and Lola (Trimm) Hennigan. He graduated from Canton High School. On September 30, 1949, he married Helen M. Hunter, at the Colton Methodist Parsonage; Helen predeceased him on September 13, 1994. Amos worked for and retired from the New York State D.O.T. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, sporting event and black powder shooting.
