Alta L. (Newton) Wright

Funeral service for Alta L. Wright, 84, of Colton, will be held privately by the family. Alta died on Sunday, August 16, 2015 while at home, surrounded by family and under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley. Alta is survived by three sons, Michael (Florence) Wright; Patrick (Debra) Wright Jr.; and Roger (Linda) Wright; by seven daughters, Patricia (Dale) Sharlow; Marilyn (Wayne) Gladle; Peggy (Hugh) Horton; Janet Wright; Jackie (Mitch) Wilson; Laurie (Jim) Reichart and Jody (Steven) Richards. Also surviving are many grand and great-grandchildren.
Alta is predeceased by two daughters, Janice, in infancy, and Carolyn Wright-Coulter and by a sister Hilda Hollinger.
Alta was born January 26, 1931 in South Colton, the daughter of the late Daniel H. and Mary Irene (Felt) Newton. She attended Colton and Pierrepont Schools. On July 22, 1949, Alta married Patrick Malcolm Wright Sr. in Colton with Rev. William Smithers, officiating. Patrick predeceased her on July 11, 1992.
Alta was a homemaker and worked the family farm. She loved to garden and was a member of the Colton Senior Citizens.
