Samuel W. Morrison, 67, of Morley passed away peacefully in the company of family at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse on Saturday, October 6, 2018. In accordance with his wishes, Sam’s body has been donated to the Anatomical Gift program at UPSTATE Medical University.
Sam was born December 4, 1950 in Dryden, New York, the son of the late Samuel L. and Rose (Simon) Morrison. He attended schools in Dryden, Madrid and Lisbon. On May 29, 1982, Sam was married to Patricia Hourihan at the Canton United Methodist Church.
Over his career, Sam worked for various companies in the area including Mace Motors where he was a mechanic, he was a driver and mechanic for Clarence Collins, a mechanic at Seeker Chevrolet in Gouverneur and CW Green in Lisbon.
Sam enjoyed watching the Barrett-Jackson classic car auctions. He was part owner of a C38 race car in his younger days. Sam spent a lot of time volunteering in Madrid at the St. Lawrence Power and Equipment Museum, and could be found at the Madrid Diner, Cascade or Meadows restaurant holding a cup of coffee and shooting the breeze.
Sam is survived by his wife of 36 years, Patricia, two sons; Samuel; Wayne (Tracey Brock); and grandchildren, Jocelynn and Patrick, all of Morley. A sister, Helen DenHaese of Marietta, GA and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews also survive him.
He is predeceased by a brother, Lloyd at age two and sisters, Margaret, Lottie, Marie and Caroline.

A memorial service in Sam’s honor will be held on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the Morley Wesleyan Church. Following the service there will be a luncheon in the church fellowship hall where stories and tales of Sam can be shared.
