Mr. Robert G. Hoyt, 73, of Pierrepont passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 7, 2018 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital after being stricken at home.
Robert was born November 12, 1944 in Potsdam, the son of the late Harold Hoyt and Lillian Kelley. He attended school until entering the United States Army. Upon his return from service, Robert married Judith Stratton on August 12, 1966 at the Colton Methodist Church. Judith predeceased him on August 23, 2017. Robert worked for Bicknell Building Supply and later for Waste Stream Management on the Potsdam pick-up route.
Robert was a past member of the Pierrepont Fire Department, becoming inactive due to health issues. He enjoyed watching all sports especially NASCAR. He liked playing cards in his earlier years, more recently he was more of a quiet home body who enjoyed the company of family and friends.
Robert is survived by three daughters, Jennifer (Martha) Dupree of Ogdensburg; Jannette McCloud of North Carolina and Jannell Hoyt of Pierrepont; five grandchildren, Ella Dupree and Shaw, Sierra, Skyler and Destini-Lee Keleher. Also surviving are three brothers, Harold (Carol) Hoyt of Norwood; Peter (Cheryl) Hoyt of Pierrepont; William (Glenda) Hoyt of Pierrepont; two sisters, Annette (Steve) Green of West Parishville and Sally Burwell of Lisbon.
In addition to his parents, and wife Judith, Robert was predeceased by a daughter Amanda in infancy.
In accordance with his wishes, graveside services will be held privately. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Pierrepont Fire Department and First Responders; 62 Old County Road; Canton, New York 13617.
