Mr. Lloyd L. Barrigar, 96, of Pierrepont passed away on Monday, May 28, 2018 while in the comfort of his home, with his family by his side, while under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley.
Lloyd was born, January 1, 1922 in Pierrepont, the son of the late Sylvanus and Carrie (Austin) Barrigar. On August 10, 1944, Lloyd married Lillian Phillips at the home of her parents in Pierrepont, where the couple resided their entire married life. Lloyd honorably served his county in the US Army from 1945-1947 during World War II. Lloyd worked for 30 years at Jones & Laughlin Steel in Star Lake, retiring in 1977. All the while and after his retirement, he worked the family farm.
He was a past member of the Canton Masonic Lodge and the Boondockers Snowmobile Club. Lloyd enjoyed playing cards and square dancing, he also loved to hunt and fish and a lot of that was done while at camp in Cranberry Lake which he owned for 48 years.
Lloyd is survived by two sons, Lloyd (Kris) Barrigar and Larry (Elaine) Barrigar, all of Pierrepont; two daughters, Betty O’Shea of Russell and Linda Pusateri of Norfolk; a brother, Harry E. Barrigar of Odessa, NY; a sister, Mary Duggan of Greenvile, NC; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Lillian on April 25, 2018; by a son, Keith; two son-in-law’s, Bruce O’Shea and Mario Pusateri; two brothers, George and Calvin Barrigar and a sister, Ruth Phillips.
Calling hours for Lloyd will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2018 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the O’Leary Funeral Home, Canton; and again, on Friday morning from 11:00 am till 12:00 noon. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 1, 2018 at 12:00 pm at the funeral home followed by burial in the Beech Plains Cemetery, Pierrepont.
