Carrie J. (Fizette) Garrow

Mrs. Carrie J. Garrow, 84, of Canton died on Monday, January 01, 2018 while surrounded by family, in the comfort of her home, under the care of St. Lawrence Valley Hospice.

Carrie is survived by two daughters, Elaine Whiteford and husband Dave of Russell; Dayle Garrow and companion Steve Baker of Lyons, NY; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren; a son-in-law Steven Milligan, nieces and nephews.

Carrie is predeceased by her husband Vernon (John) Garrow in 2002; a daughter, Kay Milligan in 2016; a granddaughter Amy Lovely; and her parents, John and Katherine Fizette.

Carrie was born April 19, 1933 in West Potsdam, the daughter of John and Katherine (Griffin) Fizette. She attended Norwood Schools and later received her GED. On October 9, 1948, she married Vernon (John) Garrow in Norwood. Carried worked several jobs throughout her lifetime, but the longest was at the Newark Development Center where she was an aide for 9 years.

Carrie enjoyed bingo, reading, crossword puzzles and crocheting.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the O’Leary Funeral Home in Canton. A funeral Mass will be celebrated in the spring with burial in the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Canton.
