Brian D. Casey, 59, of Canton passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 16, 2018 at CVPH in Plattsburgh after being stricken at home.
Brian was born March 15, 1959 in Potsdam, son to the late William and Marion (Strader) Casey. Being young when both his parents passed, he was raised by his brother and sister-in-law, Pat and Nancy Casey, whom raised him along with their own. Brian graduated from Canton High School in 1978 and from SUNY Brockport in 1982, with a Bachelors in Criminal Justice. Shortly thereafter, Brian began his career as a Correctional Office with the State of New York, finishing his 29 and a half years at Ogdensburg Correctional Facility. On May 20, 1989, he married Kathleen O’Gorman at St. Patrick’s Church in Colton with Father Donald Manfred, celebrating the marriage.
Brian also served his country in the US ARMY Reserves being stationed in Ft. McLellan in Alabama. He was a member of the Moosehead Hunting Club, Canton Sportsman’s Club. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and Yankee Fan. “There will never be the likes of him again”

Brian is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Kathleen “Kay” Casey of Canton; their daughter, Bridget Casey of Canton; six brothers, Pat (Nancy) Casey of Canton; Larry (Diane) Casey; Tim (Katie) Casey of Greenfield Center; Mike (Connie) Casey of High Springs, FL; Dick (Kathy) Casey of Potsdam and Jerry (Patrick) Casey of Rochester. Also surviving are Bill (Hilary) Casey, Cheryl (Mike) Rose and Amy (Ned) Cosman, who considered him a brother, and nieces, nephews and cousins of the Casey and O'Gorman Families.
Awaiting his arrival to heaven are his parents, William who predeceased him on March 12, 1965 and Marion who passed on April 3, 1967.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2018 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the O’Leary Funeral Home, Canton. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 20, 2018 at 11:00 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Canton with Father Brian Stitt, Pastor and Father Donald Manfred, Concelebrating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery.
