Rowena J. "Tootsie" (Recore) Murdock

Rowena J. “Tootsie” Murdock, 55, of Norfolk passed away while in the company of family on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital, where she had been a patient for a few days.

Tootsie was born August 27, 1962 in Malone, the daughter of Charlotte (Marks) Recore. She attended Franklin Academy in Malone. Tootsie was a Certified Nurse’s Aide at Community Nursing Home in Potsdam, St. Regis Nursing Home in Massena and she worked for United Helpers ICF’s.

Tootsie enjoyed color, creating plastic canvas art and Gray’s Anatomy. She and her best friend Betty Jo Mitchell did woodworking and crafting workshops. Most of all, Tootsie loved spending time and caring for her grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her daughter Jenny (Duane) Walrath of Canton; grandchildren, Alexis Murdock, Lyman Walrath and Richard Huff; a brother, Peter Recore of Massena and a sister, Rena Cook of Norfolk and by nieces and nephews.

Tootsie is predeceased by her mother, Charlotte, three brothers, Timmy, Thomas and Kenny Recore and by a great-nephew Emmett Cook.

A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at 12:00 pm at the Norfolk Hepburn Library.
