Norma Jean (Jamison) Dent

RUSSELL—Funeral Services for 83 year old Norma Jean Jamison Dent, a resident of 981 County Route 17, Russell, will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. the O’Leary Funeral Home in Canton with Rev. Brian Drury presiding.  Burial will be held in the Fairview Cemetery following the services.  Family and friends may call at the O’Leary Funeral Home in Canton on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.  Mrs. Dent passed away Saturday afternoon at the Maplewood Campus in Canton.

              Norma Jean is survived by her husband of 61 years, Richard L., Russell; her three sons, Richard M. Dent, Brasher Falls; John and Christina Dent, Canton; Ronald and Becky Dent, Canton; her four daughters, Pam Dent, Canton; Bonnie and John Friot, Russell; Sally and Marshall Noble, Canton; Esther and Ron Dana, Russell; eighteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law Mary Jamison, Pennsylvania and several nieces and nephews.  She was pre-deceased by her three brothers Glenn, Leo, and Clyde Jamison and her three sisters, Betty Lucco, Jackie Kinny and Janet Hartwell.

              Born in Bradford, PA to the late John and Mable Combs Jamison, Norma Jean graduated from high school and attended college and received a teaching degree..  She married Richard L. Dent on December 18, 1954.  She was a homemaker and served as the librarian for the Town of Hermon for many years.  She was a member of the PTA, the National Campers and Hikers Association in which her and Richard were very active in and she enjoyed jig-saw puzzles, county music and reading.  She took pride in reading the Bible every day.  Norma Jean also loved to be around her family and friends and loved playing with Playdough with her grandchildren.  Memorial Donations in her memory can be made to the local Alzheimer’s Association.  Memories and condolences may be shared online at www.olearyfuneralservice.com .
