Nona (Dunn) Fisher

Funeral service for Mrs. Nona Fisher, 92 of Morley will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 11:00am at the Scotch Presbyterian Church, Chipman, with Pastor Carl Pattison, officiating. Burial will be in the Madrid Cemetery. Nona passed away peacefully while at her home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, April 24, 2017, while under the care of Hospice of the St. Lawrence Valley.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the O’Leary Funeral Home in Canton. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Scotch Presbyterian Church, 35 County Road 33; Madrid, New York 13660.

Nona is survived by her two sons, Rick (Sandy) Fisher of Morley and John (Lynn) Fisher of Madrid; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A daughter, Susan LeClair and two sisters, Gladys Wagner and Anna VanHatten and two brothers, Ralph and Floyd Dunn predecease her.

Nona was born February 9, 1925 in Madrid, the daughter of the late Merton and Lena (Castle) Dunn. Nona married Edison Fisher on August 14, 1954 at the Scotch Presbyterian Church in Chipman, Edison predeceased her on October 4, 2009. Nona worked as a secretary for the St. Lawrence County Probation Department, was a clerk for the St. Lawrence Credit Union, she was a stenographer for New York State at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center retiring in 1987. Following her retirement she worked as a secretary at the First Presbyterian Church of Canton.

Nona was a women of faith, only her relationship with God surpassed the love and devotion she had for Edison and her family. She was a truly devoted wife and mother. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Stars and the First Presbyterian Church of Canton and later a member of the Scotch Presbyterian Church parish.
