Keith A. Blackmer

Funeral service for Mr. Keith A. Blackmer, 79, of Canton will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the O’Leary Funeral Home, Canton with Pastor Michael Terrell officiating. Burial will be in the Beech Plains Cemetery, Pierrepont in the spring. Keith passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 26, 2016 while at home surrounded by family and under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley.

Calling hours will also be held on Tuesday at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until the time of the service. Contributions in his memory may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley; 6805 US Hwy 11; Potsdam, New York 13676.

Keith was born February 10, 1937 in Potsdam, the son of the late Forrest and Marie (Hoffer) Blackmer. Keith attended North Country Schools in Canton, Russel and South Russell. Keith served in Germany with the US ARMY from 1954 – 1957. On May 24, 1959, Keith married Geneva Flanagan at the Russell Methodist Church. Keith was a foreman for the Town of Canton for 33 years.

Keith is survived by his wife of 57 years, Geneva of Canton; by a brother Richard of NJ and by a sister, Linda Allen of Canton.

He is predeceased by brothers, Forrest Jr., Lloyd and Jackie and by a sister, Mavis Webb.
