Janet Change

Memorial service for Janet Marie Change, 62, of Raymondville and formerly of Canton will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 10:00 am at the Morley Wesleyan Church, with Pastor Paul Dettmer, officiating. Janet died on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at the home of her daughter, Jessica Curran, while surrounded by family and under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley.

Janet is survived by three sons, James (Jaime) Hughes of Pierrepont; Jonathan (Erin) Hughes of Hermon; Micah Change of Canton; by a daughter, Jessica (Rodney) Curran of Raymondville; by eight grandchildren, Kyle, Zoe, Kayl, Bruce, Joseph, Coral, Abigail and Wyatt. Janet is also survived by her mother, Joyce King of Lisbon and two sisters, Gayle (James) Flanagan and Melody (Joseph) Flanagan, all of Morley and by several nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her father, Elon Jackson and by brothers, James Edward Jackson, Elon Martin Jackson and Edward Martin Jackson.

Janet was born October 9, 1953 in Gouverneur, the daughter of Elon Jackson and Joyce King. She graduated from Canton High School and holds a Bachelor’s of Literature. Janet served in the United States Navy. Following her service she worked in health care for a short time and then took on the tiring and often time’s thankless job of being a mother.

Janet would go out of her way to help anyone she could. She was a member of the Morley Wesleyan Church, she took part in several Relay for Life events, she was an “Events Coordinator” while living in the High-rise in Canton, she was a member of the Waddington American Legion, and she enjoyed crafts, crocheting, cooking, and quilting. Janet was the official greeter at church and she assisted with the Dairy Princess parades. Her main focus was being the best family member and friend she could be to everyone she knew.
