Irene F. (Dugas) Faucher

Mass of Christian Burial for Irene F. Faucher, 104, of Canton, will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the St. Mary’s Church, Canton with Rev. Douglas J. Lucia, celebrating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery. Irene peacefully passed away on Thursday, November 03, 2016 at the United Helpers Riverledge Nursing Home in Ogdensburg.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, November 8, from 4-7 pm at the O’Leary Funeral Home, Canton.

Irene is survived by six children, Rene L. (Theresa) of Canton, NY; Gilbert G. (Martha) of Kennesaw, GA; Anna I. (John) Fulton of Warwick, RI; Glenn H. (Carolyn) of Cartersville, GA; Donald J. (Connie) of Little River, SC and Keith R. (Theresa) of Hyde Park, NY. Also surviving are a daughter-in-law, Inez Faucher of Canton, GA, 23 grandchildren and 22 great- grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Irene is predeceased by her husband, Lucien in 1982, by a son Aime Roland, who died in a plane accident in 1957 while serving in the US Coast Guard, by a son Joseph F. in 2015 and by all of her siblings, Bella, Rose, Albert, Dolphis, Avilla, Camilla, Amanda, Arcade, Paul and Rolland.

Irene was born, March 1, 1912 in Glen Sandfield, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of the late Fortunat and Emily (Quenneville) Dugas. On November 25, 1930, Irene married Lucien Michael Faucher at the Sacred Heart Church in Massena. Irene was a domestic worker in the early years of the marriage, she was a mother and housewife most of her life. She enjoyed vegetable gardening, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, driving, reading, cooking and later in life, swimming. On one occasion she traveled to England with a group tour.
