Funeral service for Donald G. Anton, 71, of Morley, will be held on Monday, July 11, 2016 at 4:00 PM at the O’Leary Funeral Home, Canton. Burial will follow in the Morley Cemetery. Donald passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at the Upstate University Hospital, Syracuse.

Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, July 10, from 2 PM -4 PM and 7 PM – 9 PM. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Potsdam Animal Shelter or to the American Cancer Society.

Donald is survived by his wife April Anton of Morley; by seven children, Sandra Lancaster of Fort Myers, FL; Stephanie Blunt and husband Richard of Jackson, NJ; Jacqueline Anton-Reynolds and husband Cory of Renssalear Falls; Richard Winston and wife Christine of Massena; Christina Adams and husband Jon of Riverdale, UT; Michelle Doring of Ward, AR and Andrea Doring of Ward, AR. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, Alex, Shelby and Julia Lancaster; Serena Anton; Marcus and Donovan Anton and Cameron Reynolds; Allison, Nicholas and Isabella Winston; Oliver Adams and Jaden and Collin Doring; a brother James Anton and wife Anna of Shark River Hills, NJ, brother and sister-in-laws, and several loving nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by a sister, Patricia Weinkofsky.

Donald was born, February 11, 1945 in Long Branch, NJ, the son of the late James and Elizabeth (Granit) Anton. He graduated from Long Branch High School in NJ and joined the US ARMY service from 1964 till his honorable discharge in 1967. Following his ARMY service, Donald was a mailman in both New Jersey and Florida, he worked for Service Master, was a Rail Road Conductor at the Earl Naval Base in New Jersey and most recently was a volunteer driver for the St. Lawrence County Department of Social Services.

Donald enjoyed golf, he was an avid Jets Fan and is known for his amazing sense of humor. He is a renowned cook, known for his softball size meatballs and if Donald wasn’t cooking, he was going above and beyond to help someone in need.
