Cora M. (Eells) Bice

Mrs. Cora M. Bice, 95 of Canton and formerly of Russell, died on Sunday, December 31, 2017 at the United Helpers Maplewood Campus, Canton where she had been a resident since July 2017. Cora was born April 28, 1922 in West Pierrepont, the daughter of the late Edgar and Gertrude (Sibley) Eells. She attended West Pierrepont Country School until the eighth grade. On June 9, 1940, Cora was married to Almeron (Wes) Bice at the Russell United Methodist Church. Mr. Bice predeceased her in 1989. The couple had resided in Russell their entire married life.

Cora was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, quilting, knitting and painting. She especially loved spending time with family.

Cora is survived by two sons, David Bice and wife Janine of Dresden, OH and Ronnie Bice and wife Marion of Russell; a sister-in law, Vivian Snell of Canton; six grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and by several great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Cora is predeceased by a son, Jerry; a daughter, Judith Webb; five brothers, Jason, Milton and Herbert Bice, Edgar and Calvin Eells and by sisters, Jane Paro and Inez Downer.

Calling hours will be held at the O’Leary Funeral Home, Canton on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm and again on Thursday, January 4, 2018 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at 3:00 pm. Burial in the spring will be held in the Beech Plains Cemetery, Pierrepont.
