Bernard A. Dominie, 86, of Canton passed away peacefully, while in the company of his family and under the care of Hospice, on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at the United Helpers RiverLedge Health Care Facility in Ogdensburg. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no funeral or calling hours. A celebration of his life will be planned for the summer.
Bernard is survived by his wife of 64 years, Patricia; a daughter, Roberta Dominie of Canton; three sons, Mark (Barbara) Dominie of Marathon; Eric (Jayne) Dominie of Minden, LA and Dan (Renee) Dominie of Canton; daughter - in - law, Sherry Dominie of Massena; six grandchildren, five great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Ames and Jean Salton; and canine companion, Molly.
Bernard is predeceased by a son, Dennis Dominie and his parents, Leonard and Doris Dominie.
Bernard was born October 14, 1931 in Russell, the son of Leonard and Doris (Viancour) Dominie. He attended country schools and graduated from Canton High School. On June 13, 1953 he was married to Patricia Toomey. Bernard was a farmer, he enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, gardening and water skiing. Even after he retired from farming, Bernard enjoyed keeping a garden. He was a member of the Quebec Brook hunting club and the Knife Collectors Guild.
